Newest Model of Nissan Titan

As part of a recent agreement between Nissan and Chrysler, the next-generation full-size light duty truck, the 2011 Nissan Titan, will be based on the new 2009 Dodge Ram. In return, Chrysler will get a much needed small car and the heartfelt gratitude of Carlos Ghosn. We've asked the good folks at KORSDesign to render up what they think the next-gen Titan's going to look like. Check out their pics below and hit the jump for their expectations.

Titan Gets Ramified And Hemified
Expect the 2011 Nissan Titan to not only share platform hardware with the Dodge, but also engine options and transmissions. Yes, if Chrysler President Jim Press is correct, there is a possibility that your Nissan will have a Hemi. There’s no official word yet on whether the upcoming Ram’s two-mode hybrid system will make it into the Nissan but we see no reason why it wouldn’t. On the exterior, as you can see, will be an extension and modernization of the Titan front fascia although we're told since the new truck is still in clay form, it's got all sorts of opportunities for changes. As for the interior, the 2011 Nissan Titan will receive a unique instrument panel and inner door skins although the rest of the interior could be pulled from the ‘09 Ram, namely seats and other items not directly noticeable to the occupants. Pricing and release dates are unknown at this time, but look for the 2011 Nissan Titan to make its debut sometime in late ‘09 and go on sale in early to mid ‘10 as a 2011 model.

Nissan Titans Trouble

HERE THE STORY ABOUT NISSAN TITAN TROUBLE

Build Years/Makes/Models: 2004 NISSAN TITAN

I BOUGHT A 2010 PRIUS IN SEPTEMBER 2009. IN OCTOBER, I DROVE OVER A POTHOLE THAT WAS ABOUT 6 INCHES DEEP AND COVERED THE ENTIRE WIDTH OF THE LANE. HERE IS WHAT IT FELT LIKE HAPPENED: WHEN THE BACK WHEELS HIT THE BOTTOM OR THE TOP OF THE POTHOLE, MY CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND I HAD A VERY DIFFICULT TIME STOPPING IT. I MANAGED TO NOT CRASH INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, BUT JUST BARELY. IT HASN'T HAPPENED SINCE. THE POTHOLE WAS APPARENTLY THE RESULT OF WORK ON THE ROAD, B/C IT WAS SQUARED, LIKE THE PAVEMENT HAD BE INTENTIONALLY CUT.

Build Years/Makes/Models: 2004 NISSAN TITAN

STARTED GETTING INTERMITTENT BRAKE FAILURE AT SLOW SPEEDS. ABS APPEARS TO ACTIVATE GREATLY INCREASING STOPPING DISTANCE. PROBLEM HASN'T BEEN RESOLVED.

Build Years/Makes/Models: 2004 NISSAN TITAN

HAVE BRAKE FAILURE AT 17,000 MILES. BRAKES WERE MAKING NOISE STARTING AT ABOUT 3,000 TO 4,000 MILES HAD BRAKES CHECKED AT DEALERSHIP AT ABOUT 9,000 MILES, PADS WERE INSPECTED TO BE OK AND THEY TURNED THE ROTORS. HOWEVER, THEY CONTINUED TO MAKE NOISE. TOOK VEHICLE INTO DEALERSHIP AT 17,000 MILES AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. PADS AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS IT WAS METAL ON METAL AND CHRYSLER WAS NOT GOING TO COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY.

Build Years/Makes/Models: 2004 NISSAN TITAN

I OWN AND AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2006 PONTIAC G6 GTP. AT 49,500 MILES A SEVERE SHIMMY DEVELOPED AND STEERING BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY TIE RODS AND STEERING LINKAGE NEED TO BE REPLACED. HAD THIS PROBLEM NOT BEEN ADDRESSED I WOULD HAVE LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER THE VEHICLE. A CAR WITH SO FEW A MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE DEVELOPED SUCH A PROBLEM.

Build Years/Makes/Models: 2004 NISSAN TITAN

I OWN A 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER LS. BOUGHT IT NEW OFF THE DEALER'S LOT. IN 2007, APPROXIMATELY 100,000 MILES LATER THE TACHOMETER BEGAN TO FUNCTION INTERMITTENTLY. AT 120,000 MILES, IT QUIT ALL TOGETHER. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION INTERMITTENTLY. NOW IN 2009 AND 150,000 MILES IT DOES NOT WORK 90+% OF THE TIME. WHEN IT DOES, THE SPEED INDICATION IS UNRELIABLE. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE INTO THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR ESTIMATE; $800 TO $1000 ALL DAY SITUATION. HAVE TAKEN IT TO OTHER REPAIR SHOPS, BUT THEY REFER BACK TO THE DEALER IN ORDER TO OBTAIN PARTS. SO FAR, HAVE BEEN ABLE TO OPERATE VEHICLE, BUT AWAITING THE NEXT GAUGE TO FAIL.

Nissan Titan Dashboard

As you browse the archive of dashboard screenshots on the Dashboards by Example blog, you’ll find information dashboard projects spanning an incredibly diverse range of needs and interests. Dashboards fit the business intelligence presentation needs of every industry I can think of and we’ve seen examples from bottle filling lines to the situation awareness dashboard from the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency. Regardless of the business sector or niche, the one thing you can count on is the unique ingenuity of the dashboard designer.
In the course of interacting with Dashboard Spy readers who submit their dashboard examples for discussion on the blog, I’ve come to realize that there is an amazing amount of skill and versatility among business intelligence dashboarders. The design solutions that arise can be surprisingly clever.
And every once in a while you stumble across a dashboarding project that has that extra spark of passion that comes from real personal interest and involvement. Today’s dashboard example is a combination of passion and cleverness that resulted in a very cool mobile dashboarding environment.
The phrase “Mobile Dashboard” probably makes you think of cell phones or PDAs, but no, the mobile dashboard device we’ll look at today is a couple of thousand pounds heavier than your iPhone.
So what weighs 5,000 lbs, cost $30,000, produces 300 or so horsepower and can display the KPIs and metrics of your business in a dashboard display?
The answer is Ed Pardo’s Nissan Titan pickup truck. I kid you not! Ed Pardo of Buffalo, NY is a Dashboard Spy reader and talented I.T. pro who has literally taken the idea of mobile dashboards to the streets.
When Ed told me his dashboarding philosophy and showed me a couple of pictures of his mobile dashboard project, I knew I was in for a treat. Here is Ed on what business dashboarding should be:
Dashboarding is nothing more than getting the right information to the right viewers in the shortest time with minimal interaction. The best way to do this is by leveraging technology to provide the presentation. If you can “think outside the box” and don’t let the vendors dictate what is possible, you can benefit from technology in ways not imagined.
Let’s take a look inside Ed’s Nissan Titan:
titan mobile dashboard
“Looks just like a normal car” you might be saying. Well, take a closer look at the bottom of the picture and you’ll see a shiny red mouse. Ed is an exceedingly neat as well as clever hacker and it’s to his testament that things look so normal in this picture. I suggested to him that he should be featured in the pages of Make Magazinefor his attention to detail!
So how this this unique mobile dashboard platform come about and what can it do? Let’s hear it straight from Ed:
Hubert,
I started this about six years ago while I was in the middle of working on a security management platform at work. I was interested in creating a virtual Secure Operations Center (SOC) and was attempting to use a laptop. I had heard about some guys that had built custom computers to put in their cars as media servers. Just think, the worlds largest iPod!
I got into this to see what the engine control system (OBD II) was doing in my vehicle, just curious I guess. I have since saved family and friends hundreds of dollars by reseting the check engine light!
The setup is basically an XP Pro computer except for some custom pc parts to make it work in a 12V environment. Add in some specialized software and you now can have a information dashboard in your vehicle.
The biggest challenge was how convert the voltage to work with a device that was used to a steady 120V. In a car, the voltage fluctuates depending on the speed of the motor or what else is drawing from the battery. There are now many sites that offer parts or even ready to run computers for your vehicle.
After I have figured out all the logistics and wiring, then the fun started. The software interface(s) (Centrafuse or StreetDeck are two) have evolved to be very user friendly while driving; large buttons, automated application switching, etc.
As a proof of concept, I connected to the internet (not while driving!), accessed the corporate network via remote access and launched my enterprise dashboard. I then sent a picture to the vendor to show how I was using their software in a way they had never imagined. I then created a slide deck titled “The worlds first mobile SOC in a Nissan Titan pickup”!
I have the following functionality enabled in my vehicle:
  • In-dash 7″ VGA touchscreen
  • GPS mapping
  • Infrared backup camera
  • Bluetooth phone integration
  • OBD II connection to monitor engine stats (created custom screen using PalmerPerformance DashCommand)
  • 10k song shuffle
Additional Functionality NOT used
  • XM Radio
  • DVD player
  • Voice Command
  • WiFi Internet (can be used for real time traffic alerts or Google Earth maps)
I have made the computer portable so that I can use it in my house or on my boat if I want!
I put in extra effort to make this as invisible as possible. The stock truck didn’t come with Navigation so I purchased the dash hood from the factory system so it would look unmodified. I then used a Xenarc 7″ VGA touchscreen monitor with dual inputs; one for the pc and one for the backup camera.
The CPU lives under the driver seat (this is my second case) and all the wiring has been hidden. This case is actually a desktop case that I modified the power supply to work in both environments. I replaced the mouse with a Touchpad and use a mini USB keyboard.
Here are the day and night dashboards that I run in my Nissan Titan to show what’s going on. Throttle, Timing, Intake, MAF, MAP, Short, Long, and Engine readings are shown.

What’s Ed up to next?
After finishing my truck, I have turned my attention to my home wood shop (WoodFORGE) but don’t have a website yet. I may move the computer in there as I am already working on a dashboard for the shop (motor temp, room humidity, air filter pressure, etc.).
We can’t wait Ed! Thanks for letting us have a glimpse into this great dashboarding project!
If any fellow Dashboard Spy readers want to contact Ed Pardo, please send him an email at woodforge at roadrunner dot com.

Nissan Titan Chalenge the Giants

Since the appearance of the premiere in New York Motor Show, at april 2003, the Nissan Titan continues to receive attention from the automotive industry, USA. This is because the Nissan Titan appear openly and frontally challenge the dominance of local brands of their power in the region.

Nissan's all-out to catch up on full-size pickup segment. The designers who worked on NissanDesign America, Inc.. (NDA) in La Jolla, California glaring local pickup strength, adopt and strengthen the character who was later applied to the Titan, Nissan's full-size pickup first in history.

Nissan took the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150 and Dodge Ram as a model (the first two models are the best selling car in the USA). For this reason, some people who never tried a judge of character and engine throttle power similar to the Chevy Silverado. Of course Nissan denied.

Nissan V-8 engine with a capacity mighty giant, 6.5-liter that produces more than 300 hp (exact figures are not yet announced). With 90% of torque (up to 375 lb-ft) can be obtained starting from 2500 rpm spin, promising acceleration stunning Titan truck enthusiasts.

Much more use of the system of five-speed automatic transmission, it looks like the Titans would give the sensation response tergesit and kick down the smoothest gearshift in her class.

Titan appears fierce, brutal and stocky, reflected through the figure of his body and voice. Far different from the Toyota Tundra that appears soft, smooth, and feminine.

Two body variants are offered Nissan King Cab (with rear door of innovation that can be opened 180 degrees) and Crew Cab (four doors). Tall drivers can sit in the passenger compartment to imitate a large size.

Even on Crew Cab variants, four to five big men could sit quietly relieved thanks to the space including foot space is wide enough, front and rear. When the rear seats are not used, can be folded neatly into the dividing wall, leaving a flat floor, without a barrier for additional cargo space in the interior.

As the name suggests, everything associated with these pickups are large and muscular. Ladder frame (frame) has a large cross section with fully boxed side member, which is not owned rivals.

Titan also uses a leaf to produce a better clearance control in off-road terrain. This pickup also penetrate the tough undulating terrain, shake control and shock-resistant body, something that can not be promised competitors. Steering system is rack-and-pinion wrapped in rubber, sufficient precision to size pickup truck.

Titan is equipped with the ability to shift-on-the-fly on a part-time 4WD variant (moving from high 2WD, 4WD high and 4WD low). The process was conducted with an electronic torque-transfer system that works with the traction control brake system is activated to generate maximum grip on the path.

The interior offers plenty of options, including the model seats, audio system, DVD navigation and entertainment systems. Security system with immobilizer is standard knacks. While the safety system including side and curtain airbags, and rear-parking proximity sensors. The four-wheel disc brakes and ABS are managed to provide termination power energized.

With such provisions, the Nissan Titan has a great opportunity to attract consumers. Only one major weakness, Nissan has no brand loyalty, something important to fight in the pickup truck segment. Because of that, Nissan was not too grandiose. They only produce 100 000 units per year from its plant in Canton, Mississippi.

American Idol Will End ??

Recently, perfect storm events to explain to the hit Fox show American Idol. A recent report said the number of Idol viewers fall into a minimum of eight years since the first show aired. These figures are still high, with 17.2 million viewers tuned to show this week, but when they neared their end, instead of taking the numbers continue to fall.

Since the beginning of season eight, there was much speculation about why the show has declined in popularity. First is the loss of quirky judges Paula Abdul, who was replaced by comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres popular. Last season, Idol fans must endure the addition of songwriter / singer Kara DioGuardi to the trifecta iconic, and the results are mixed and not very positive. Not to take anything from Ellen and Kara (well maybe Kara), but clearly shows that managers misjudged the dynamics between the three original judges Simon, Randy and Paula, and found that playing with that formula is a great idea.

Not because it will be important, because the next hammer fall is the announcement that Simon Cowell, the backbone of the operation, leaving after this season's head-on the show, X-Factor. For me, this is the last nail in the coffin of American Idol. It's like trying to replace Hugh Hefner's Playboy - just will not work.

And also release this year is a competitor. They are talented young people to work hard and do my best, but there are no real standouts. There Glambert or Underwood, or Clarkson or Daughtry or heck, even David Archuleta. Big star this season is Crystal Bowersox, and he does not seem all that interested in being there.

Maybe American Idol executives need only look at this light. This is a great race, doing extraordinary things, to bring America a very enjoyable and help create a talent to be discovered, a BIG star. X-Factor Simon is to take over the airwaves, Idol may have to consider out like a lion, not as a sheep.
